Frequently Asked Questions about Volleyball Posts

What models or types of volleyball posts are used for sports facilities?

Depending on the utility and use for which they are going to be used, both fixed posts with boxes and movable or mobile posts are used in sports facilities.

We can also differentiate these models by the material used for their manufacture, depending on whether they are made of metal or aluminium. Aluminium volleyball posts are more commonly used outdoors and are mainly intended for matches and competitions. Whereas metal volleyball posts are more economical and are usually installed in schools or similar sports facilities.

What are the regulations that volleyball posts have to comply with in order to be regulation?

Regulation volleyball posts must comply with the UNE-EN 1271 standard. They will have a height of 2.55m and should preferably be adjustable to the 6 regulation volleyball heights, being able to lower and raise the net to these heights.

They must be firmly fixed to the pavement with boxes or with bases and anchors to the ground. In this case, these bases must be outside the playing field and must be protected, the latter not being suitable for high level sporting competitions.

What are the 6 heights at which the net must be installed on the volleyball posts?

According to the male or female category we can distinguish (in that order):

- Senior: 2.43m, 2.24m

- Youth (16 to 18 years old): 2.43m, 2.24m

- Cadet (14 and 15 years old): 2.37m, 2.18m

- Infantil (12 and 13 years old): 2.24m, 2.10m

- Alevín (11 years old): 2.10m, 2.10m

- Benjamín (up to 10 years old): 2.00m, 2.00m

What features should I consider when buying volleyball posts for sports facilities?

When choosing a set of volleyball posts for sports facilities, the following aspects should be considered:

Materials: The material they are made of can vary, with steel and aluminium being the most common. Steel is usually heavier and cheaper, while aluminium is lighter and more resistant to corrosion.

Stability: They must have a correct anchoring system, even if they have counterweight drawers in the case of mobile models.

Mobility: If you need to transport the volleyball posts frequently or if you have a court where several sports activities take place, considering the option of using mobile volleyball posts will be a good option.

Durability: Make sure they are durable and able to withstand heavy use and weather conditions. An important factor to consider is that they are treated with baked-on epoxy paint. This paint application provides increased durability and corrosion protection, ensuring that the poles maintain their performance over time.

Ease of installation: Opt for volleyball posts that are easy to install. Make sure they have clear installation instructions.

Compliance with regulations: Check that they comply with the official height and dimensions regulations established for the competitions or levels of play in which you will participate.

Trust: It is essential to purchase the product from a company that you can trust and that provides a good after-sales service. Look for reviews from other users.

What are the dimensions of the volleyball net?

Volleyball nets are 9.50 to 10m long and 1m wide, with a black mesh of 10 x 10cm. At the top there is a 7cm wide horizontal white band, through which a net support cable runs, and at the bottom there is a 5cm wide band, as well as a tightening rope at both the top and the bottom.

Vertically, two 5 cm wide and 1 m long lateral bands are placed on the net, which go over each side line of the playing field. The height must not exceed the official height by more than 2 cm.

What is the difference between steel and aluminium volleyball posts?

The main difference lies in the material used in their manufacture.

Metal volleyball posts are heavier and a cheaper option. On the other hand, if you value lightness and corrosion resistance, aluminium volleyball posts may be more suitable. The latter being more commonly used in competitions. Both models are valid, it all depends on the needs and preferences of each customer.

Is there a single set of poles for several sports disciplines?

Yes, there are multisport poles, which are adjustable to the height of the net for tennis, badminton and the six heights for volleyball. They are not regulated as a whole for each of the sports disciplines.
